Bluetooth 4.0 as a prototyping tool

Ketika iPhone 4S diluncurkan pada Oktober tahun lalu, di dalam sudah terpasang fitur yang belum sepenuhnya digunakan secara optimal oleh usernya. Fitur ini, adalah Bluetooth 4.0 atau juga yang dikenal sebagai Bluetooth dengan konsumsi energi rendah. Fitur ini juga dapat ditemukan dibeberapa produk Apple seperti iPad 3 dan MacBook Air. Berbeda dari versi Bluetooth yang sebelumnya, fitur ini memiliki beberapa keuntungan yang menjadikan fitur ini ideal bagi beberapa aplikasi:

Konsumsi energi yang benar-benar rendah. Seberapa rendah? Bluetooth 4.0 mengkonsumsi setengah energi ketika sedang aktif dan 1/100 ketika posisi stand by.
Proses penggabungan pada aplikasi yang mudah dan cepat sekitar 0.1 detik bukan 2 detik. Hanya cukup menekan tombol aplikasinya Anda sudah bisa menggunakannnya.
Ketika sudah terhubung, perangkat Bluetooth ini dapat "membangunkan" iPhone atau iPad hanya dengan menggunakan notifikasi pop up, bahkan fitur ini dapat digunakan ketika aplikasi ini di backgroound. Hal ini dapat perubahan kebiasaan yang signifikan bagi penggunakan perangkat Bluetooth.
Transfer data tidak lagi tergantung pada profil Bluetooth yang lama, sambungan internet yang dapat diandalkan, konektor headphone, MFi program yang mahal.

Semakin banyak kita memperbincangkan ini dengan kolega kita, semakin kita sadar bahwa betapa bergunanya fitur ini untuk sambungan wireless yang cepat, komunikasi jarak dekat, hanya dengan menggunakan fitur ini.
