triumph motorcycles product prototypes

'turntable' by richard underhill, one work in the 'triumph lifestyle accessories' show working with reappropriated motorcycle components as their base materials, young industrial designers developed a collection of home good prototypes in a recent collaborative exhibition between triumph motorcycles and the birmingham institute of art and design . view of the record deck british designer richard underhill's turntable incorporates a motorcycle brake rotor as the disc platter and a cylinder head along the side of the plinth. tatsuo kuroda: knot-chair

detail of the woven paper-code this simple armchair is composed of solid beech wood, plywood and paper-code. entitled 'knot-chair', this prototype is designed by tokyo-based tatsuo kuroda . the extensions of the chair's front and back legs are joined to form its armrest and backrest. the structural components are connected by paper-code that has been knitted around the wooden parts, providing both support and additional visual interest to the chair. its overall dimensions measure 590 x 730 x 540 mm. full view 3/4 back view back view front view detail concept sketch

the 'hövding' airbag system is contained in a collar, designed to double as a fashion accessory ' hövding ', produced by swedish design company hövding sverige ab, is an airbag system for bicyclists, designed as a fashionable but practical alternative to helmets. a hood-shaped, nylon airbag is encased within a neck collar and is automatically inflated in the event of a crash by a sensor system. washable fabric shells that fit over the collar create a range of looks for the device, designed to seamlessly incorporate into one's daily outfits. the collar is designed with interchangeable fabric shells to double as a fashion accessory the zip-up collar incorporates an on/off switch (on when the collar is zipped and buttoned; off when the snap is unbuttoned), an LED battery display meter, and a micro USB port for charging the battery and uploading accident information following a crash. currently available in two styles, the device's washable fabric
