GM Bikin Sedan Murah, Hanya Rp67 Juta

VIVAnews - General Motors Co mengumumkan telah memulai produksi sedan murah seharga 50 ribu yuan atau sekitar Rp67,5 juta di China, sejak Senin 22 November 2010. Produksi ini dilakukan bersama mitra kongsinya, SAIC Motor dan Wulling.

Sedan empat pintu yang diberi nama Baojun 603 ini akan diproduksi dengan platform Buick Excelle. Sedan khusus untuk segmen bawah di kota-kota kecil di China. Mobil ini akan dipasarkan mulai awal 2011.

Terry Johnson, Vice President GM China mengatakan bahwa kota kecil dan pedesaan di China dinilai memiliki potensi besar seiring dengan membaiknya tingkat perekonomian masyarakat. “Ini yang menjadi target kami,” kata Terry.

Menurut Terry, potensi pasar segmen bawah cukup menjanjikan. Hasil penelitian GM di negeri itu memperlihatkan, tak kurang dari 5 juta unit mobil terjual untuk segmen ini. Angka tersebut setara dengan sepertiga dari total penjualan mobil di negeri itu.

Baojun 630 diproduksi di pabrik perakitan milik kongsi GM – SAIC - Wulling yang berada di Liuzhou, kota yang terletak di bagian selatan negara itu. Mereka mengklaim sedan ini menggabungkan kecanggihan teknologi GM dan proses produksi berbiaya murah dari China. (Carscoop dan Autoevolution)
