Mitsubishi i-MiEV sebagai alat transportasi publik di London

LONDON- Indonesia kembali harus berkaca pada dunia. Kendaraan bertenaga listrik lagi-lagi dipilih sebagai armada transportasi publik di sebagian negara maju.

Kali ini, Inggris memilih Mitsubishi i-MiEV sebagai alat transportasi publik di London. Demikian dilansir Autoevolution, Selasa (29/6/2010).

Sebagai langkah awal, empat unit Mitsubishi i-MiEV akan mulai beroperasi di jalan-jalan ibukota Inggris dan selanjutnya dalam empat tahun ke depan akan menyusul 1.000 unit i-MiEV.

"Kendaraan listrik merupakan alat transportasi yang dibutuhkan masyarakat dan akan menjadi pemandangan umum di jalan-jalan kota London," ungkap Walikota London, Boris Johnson.

Ia juga menambahkan, keputusan menghadirkan kendaraan listrik merupakan upaya untuk menekan biaya operasional guna pengadaan alat transportasi publik.

Johnson beserta timnya berencana untuk mendukung pemakaian kendaraan listrik pada tahun-tahun berikutnya. Selain i-MiEV, akan hadir pula 1.600 stasiun pengisian baterai listrik dalam 12 bulan ke depan dan targetnya bisa terbangun 25.000 stasiun pengisian baterai listrik di 2015.

Pada 2012, Walikota London juga berencana untuk menjadikan seluruh armada taksi di kota tersebut menggunakan kendaraan listrik.
