DESIGN ACTION.BDG

what is design action?

DesignAction.bdg is an event held by Bandung Creative City Forum (BCCF), an independent organization that was established in 2008 by a number of creative communities and individuals in Bandung, whose activities focuses on programs that leave positive footprints in the city. DesignAction.bdg is among the programs that aim to do so; this time by employing the methods of Urban Acupuncture and Design Thinking.

DesignAction.bdg is a workshop-conference where participants will be actively involved during their event. Everyone will participate in a two-days workshop and, relevant to the subject of urban mobility, will experience Bandung and its transportation systems and surroundings. The results of this workshop will be formulated as recommendations, which, hopefully, will be realized in the near future.

DesignAction.bdg gained its name from when BCCF was invited to present about their creative intervention in Bandung at d.confestival, the 1st international conference on Design Thinking, which was held at Hasso-Plattner Institute of Design Thinking/ d.school Potsdam (Germany) in September 2012. As most BCCF activities have been conducted spontaneously from one program to another, without putting too much consideration in the consequences, BCCF refers to its programs as a series of “action”, rather than “thinking”. Hence the title “DesignAction.bdg” for BCCF presentation material at d.confestival (.bdg is added, to identify Bandung’s creative product).

The experience of BCCF at d.confestival at HPI d.school has left such an impression that it has become the main trigger for BCCF to hold DesignAction.bdg, which will be held on October 1-3, 2013. BCCF would like to bring the experience to Bandung, involving as many varieties of participants as possible, and experimenting with Urban Acupuncture and Design Thinking methods, in order to come up with fresh, innovative solutions for a number of urban issues.

Kanzen:Benih Motor Nasional
